When Karen was in Iceland she worked on the latest Weird Girls Project.
Here is a teaser of how Kitty Von-Sometime brought another one of her unique visions to life.

The final video release will be the official music video for the Icelandic band Agent Fresco and their song Eyes of a Cloud Catcher.

Martin Streek - RIP

Martin was a client (before he went bald of course) and a friend and a huge supporter of me and my business for nearly a decade.
To me he will be remembered for our hilarious conversations both on the air and in my salon chair. He knew a lot of people and was one of the most recognized voices of rock radio in our generation.

You left us sad and confused Martin..we will miss you.

Iceland was great fun!

Karen is back and working in Toronto.
Her trip to Iceland was a lot of fun. While she was there she worked on a music video for Weird Girls Project and the band Agent Fresco which will be released shortly.

Hello clients.
Summer seems to have crept up so fast we didn't even see it coming!

This notice is to inform you that Karen will be unavailable for 1 month from the 27th of May to the 28th of June.

Krista will also be unavailable from the 16th to the 26th of June which means space is limited over the next few weeks for appointments.

Krista will be taking care of some of Karen's clients while she is away but please remember that both dread specialists will be gone simultaneously from the 16th to the 26th.

Jennifer Fukushima, founder of PAPER PEOPLE CLOTHING is having a show and looking for runway models with long dark brown and/or black dreadlocks.

Modeling experience is not mandatory but stage presence is crucial.
You must be AT LEAST 5'4" or taller and between sizes 2 and 4.

The show date is Wednesday April 22nd in the evening.
You must also be available for fittings and rehearsal(s).

This is not a paying job - however you will get lots of exposure.

Ever since I was 16 years old and worked at the 410 & 7 movie theatre in Brampton (Anyone remember that theatre? It's long gone now!) I have never been able to take time off for the holidays. This year I have decided to do things a little different.

I will not be taking appointments between December 23rd 2008- January 4th 2009.

On Tuesday October 7th I was invited to speak in front of the Cosmetology students at Timothy Eaton Secondary School in Scarborough.

This was my second time visiting the students some of which remembered me from last year. It was a real pleasure getting to know the students.

Their teacher, Miss Lorraine Coughlan is a long time friend and client of mine.
I look forward to visiting her class next year!

Florida woman grows dreads to nearly 9 feet

MIAMI – Asha Mandela has hair that could rival Rapunzel's. The South Florida woman who started growing her hair 20 years ago now has locks longer than she is tall.

Mandela has submitted her hair, which measure 8 feet 9 inches long, to the Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Dreadlocks, the first entry in a new category.

It takes one bottle of shampoo and one bottle of conditioner every time she washes her hair and can sometimes take days to fully dry after she washes it.

The 46-year-old Mandela says she "used to wash it three times a week. Now I do it once a week. It's very tiring. Sometimes I don't have the energy."

My long time dear friend and client Bruce Bush passed on September 12th 2008.
This comes as a huge shock as I just saw him for his regular hair cut a couple of months ago. I loved his dry sense of humour and his bright outlook on life. We always had great conversations and I will deeply miss him.

After Sundays horrible propane explosion, it brought back very sad and very real feelings of what I went through when I lost my home in the Queen Street fire back in February.

My grandmother lives near Weston Road and Wilson Avenue and I thank God that she was not hurt by the explosion.

I know that a few of my clients also live in and around the Downsview area and I only hope that they stay positive during this difficult time.

To them, I would like to offer their next hair appointment free of charge in hopes to lift their spirits if only for a few hours.

This too shall pass.
